Hosting Server Information

  • The hosting servers are Windows-based and run ColdFusion MX 6.1. and Apache 2.0
  • It is critical to test ColdFusion applications on the development server as untested applications can crash the entire server. Users who upload un-tested ColdFusion applications to the production server may have their access to the servers revoked.
  • You must use Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) to connect to the new servers. Regular FTP will not function. For more information and SFTP options, please go to this section on Connecting to the Servers.
  • You will be assigned to two servers, a development server and a production server.
The development (testing) server is used to test Web sites before putting them on the production server.
The production (live) server is where the Web site and applications will be hosted and viewed by visitors. Users who will be publishing ColdFusion applications must complete a Publishing Preparation Form for each application.
  • All departments and organizations receive a 100 MB quota on the servers. This quota can be surpassed, but there will be a nominal yearly charge. We don't have the finalized pricing guidelines yet, but the charge will be very reasonable.
  • Georgetown University staff members do not receive individual staff space. They can obtain webspace, but it is at the discretion of their department or organization. The webspace created will be in a subfolder of the department folder and will be the responsibility of the department.
