Linking to a Directory entry
Georgetown University operates a university-wide directory of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and other persons affiliated with Georgetown. This directory can be searched on the web. Individuals in the directory are uniquely identified by their NetID.This page describes how to create a link from a web page to an individual's listing in the directory based on their NetID. There are three main benefits to using this method:
- You can link your users to contact information stored in the central directory, rather than reproducing the same information on your web pages.
- You don't have to keep individuals' contact information up-to-date in one or more places on your web site.
- Individuals are encouraged to update their contact information in the central directory (for information on how to do this, see the NetID web site).

Replace the word NetID after the equal sign in the URL above with the NetID of the individual you wish to link to. You can find out an individual's NetID by searching for them in the online directory. When you search the directory, NetIDs appear in the ID column (in the search results view) or on the Net ID line (in the individual user view).
